Several of my favourite bloggers picked up on a story in Forbes Traveler magazine.

It’s not comprehensive review, rather a few picks from well respected experts. (Those in bold are also on our list of best hikes in North America. )

The wildlife at Corkscrew Swamp, choice of Jeffrey Hunter of the American Hiking Society, looks fascinating.

    1. Good luck with the Na Pali coast hike, Rick! Not sure why Forbes call the Kalauau trail a day hike though .. unless you’re truly a superman (not that we’d doubt that you are, Rick) it’s an extremely tough 22 out-and-back miles to achieve in one day.

Certainly I’m no superman .. I’ve only tackled two miles of the Kalalau trail myself, peeling off inland at Hanakapiai to head inland for a further rugged two miles to the Hanakapiai falls ..

There are quite a few lengthy accounts of this famous trail that are worth reading if you get the time.

    2. THANKS Stuart.

I’ve already done the “day hike” myself. With kids, only to the beach.

This week I will go back for 3 days, 2 nights I think, to see all the backpacker trails and campsites.
