Click PLAY or watch an EveryTrail app review on YouTube.

It’s available for iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile and Blackberry.

  1. Great video, and well spotted. I think it needed more coverage of hiking & the great topo maps that EveryTrail uses. But then as a hiker I would say that, wouldn’t I.

  2. Everytrail has put together a nice app. Trimble Outdoors also has apps for smart phones including the iPhone. I like Trimble because it offers elevation profiles, waypoint coordinates and other useful features I don’t see at the Everytrail website.

  3. EveryTrail is an awesome app, but the iphone is a lousy platform to run it on. Because the iphone uses “assisted GPS” whenever you’re out of cell range, its GPS doesn’t work. Additionally, while taking GPS data, the iphone’s battery is only good for a couple of hours.

A walk around NYC, SF or other metro area, an iphone might be sufficient. However, if you hike, backpack, motorcycle ride or explore the mountains or back woods, forget it!

And to be fair, similar restrictions apply to all smartphones. For Everytrail, I personally believe, a true GPS device is best!
