A year and a month after a Pacific storm battered Olympic National Park, another storm pounded the park Dec. 3, washing out portions of the Hoh Road.

Hurricane Ridge Road in Olympic National Park Closed Due to Storm Erosion | National Parks Traveler
So far, this winter is starting out like last year in terms of damage to the Pacific North West Parks. Too bad.

That gorgeous river in the shot is the Hoh River, which of course is part of the Hoh rain forest. Sadly, the washouts are almost yearly now there and in the other valleys of the Olympic NP.
Here is to hoping they are able to shore up the road to Hurricane Ridge. Hurricane Ridge sits high above the Straight Of San Juan De Fuca looking across to Canada and Mt. Baker. It also sports some of the best snowshoeing in the state. If the road is closed this winter it will be a big bummer!
I was there this past summer, the road in great shape so far as I recall.
What a shame.
Wow! Nature’s power…
Kind of what happened south of us here in Tofino a few times…
