Of the major thru hikes, the AT is least interesting to me. I don’t like being tree trapped.

I agree that the Pacific Crest Trail, for example, is more scenic than the AT, but The Appalachian Trail does have special charms. Yes, blow-downs are common in snow covered areas, but we and other thru-hikers always got through.
