You could drive right to the base of the famous Falls. Capture the photo …
… then drive on to a less crowded hiking adventure.
Or … you could do a nice day hike finishing with a “coffee” here while enjoying that vista.
Of many options, an easy circuit would be to park at the Wahkeena Falls trailhead. Climb up and up through the big trees, much higher than you would expect.
Traverse over to the top of Multnomah Falls …
And descend the “normal” trail to the restaurant.
Perhaps 2hrs, walking normally.
I enjoyed it.

That waterfall is spectacular – I’m sure there have been movies or tv shows using that shot from your first pic.
This is absolutely gorgeous! I had no idea there was a waterfall like this in Oregon.
The posts from Oregon or about it seem sadly lacking! Multnomah Falls is a “beautiful spot,” but it pales in comparison to the beauty of the state when you get away from places you can simply drive to. Oregon has one of the highest concentrations of waterfalls in the World in the Gorge. Try checking out Silver Falls State Park, The Opal Creek Wilderness (Family Falls above Henline which amounts to 9 falls in a row and not small..WARNING: Technical Ascent! and the massive amounts of Falls coming off Mt Hood..not to mention, the “Cascade Spine” of Jefferson, Broken Top, Three sisters and more!. Get Away from Portland and you are in for a very remote and beautiful treat!
Thanks Jonathan. I need to make another hiking trip to Oregon myself. And bring a bike.
