Great lion picture. I’m guessing that’s one from California, the official opinion is that they aren’t in the Appalachians any more. But you might run across one, a park ranger I know who worked in the Smokies tracked one a few years ago, following a group of wild pigs. They seem to survive in spite of being officially locally extinct. We’d see them or hear them in the Ozarks, too.
Actually the big cat was in North Carolina, in an enclosed “wildlife habitat” at Grandfather Mountain. But they are extremely rare.
