top 10 undiscovered treks

The Adventure Blog tipped me again to another great list:

Backpacker – THE WORLD’S BEST UNKNOWN TREKS

  • Pyrenees Traverse, France
  • Cape Wrath Trail, Scotland
  • Zillertal Alps, Austria
  • Tongariro Northern Circuit and Heaphy Track, New Zealand
  • Cordillera Apolobamba, Bolivia
  • Overland Track, Australia
  • Sarek National Park, Sweden
  • Rolwaling and Khumbu Valleys, Nepal
  • Polar Route, Greenland
  • Simien Mountains National Park, Ethiopia
  • First, that’s 11 treks.

Second, they would have discovered 6 of the 11 if they had checked our list of the best hikes in the world.

Still, I’m off to research the other five. Right now.

    Thanks Backpacker!

    1. Yes,
I had to laugh when I read the article. The Overland Track in Tasmania (Australia) is world renowned and about 4000 people hike it each year…. maybe it is just unknown in the US or to the author.
Surprisingly on the 6 plus trips I have done on the Track I have met people from the US, Canada, Japan, Israel and ALL OVER Europe (too many countries to list) etc. It is a backpackers mecca and generally on their “must do” list.

      Keep up the great blogging
      Frank

    2. Agreed that some of these aren’t all that well hidden, but then considering who I’m talking to, I’m surprised there were five that you had to read up on! 😉

I think this meant for those that still think the Inca Trail is a little known adventure and the Haute Route is off the beaten path.
