I tried putting up a 301 “redirect” from this home page to my new one using the Redirection plugin.

Does this indicate that maintaining your own blogging site is more trouble than it is worth?

depending on what’s powering your blog now, you may be able to merge your current blog with your new wordpress blog.
and sorry ken, but i have to disagree.
wordpress is just the opposite… you can build a whole website from their blog templates.
